About
Joey is a US Army Chaplain with experience in churches of all sizes, military organizations (to include West Point and Special Operations Forces), and the civilian workforce as a blue-collar and white-collar employee and manager. As a husband and father of fifteen (yes, 15, that’s not a misprint) children, he has a passion for helping people understand their faith and pass it on to others. As a clergyman in the Anglican Church in North America, he loves the worship of God, building up God’s people, helping the hurting, and bringing the good news of Jesus Christ to everyone. He has a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY, a Master of Arts in Psychology from Morehead State (KY) University, and a Master of Divinity from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. He has published psychological research and theological journal articles, won chess tournaments, and dominated karaoke night. His first book, Faith is Not Blind, was published in 2018.
Carrie is a teacher by education, a homemaker by experience, a military dependent by marriage, and an adoptive mother by choice. A native of California, she is the driving force behind the family’s adoption exploits, homeschool adventures, and breakneck vacations. Carrie’s heart for orphans is not only evident in her own family’s adoptions, but also in her advocacy for special needs orphans and her support of orphan care and missions organizations worldwide. She has a Bachelor’s Degree from Cal State University-Sacramento and California teaching credentials, and while she would not call herself an “expert”, she has an extensive range of experiences with homeschooling, governmental and organizational adoption processes, and moving to new places. She doesn’t have time for “hobbies”, but she loves to talk to people about her passions of Jesus, adoptions, homeschooling, and family.
Our family is multilingual and multiracial. We blog on this website about our current adoption journey, but we have some great stories about our China adoptions at our old adoption blog:
